School Closure for Deep Cleaning

Dear Parents and Carers,

Ref: Deep Cleaning – School Closure

The Governors and I are writing to update you on our current situation in school. You are already aware that several of our school community have tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) in the last few weeks. This is now affecting a significant number of pupils and staff.  We have managed to remain open despite not having our site manager, reduced Admin Team, Teachers and Teaching Assistants. I have certainly appreciated more than ever over the last week or so, how vital and valuable these roles are in our school community and how much they are missed when they are not here.

Whilst the majority of these cases are identified within our Year One classes, we are beginning to see cases across the school including our Preschool.  Unfortunately we also have an outbreak of Chicken pox.

As a precautionary measure, we have made the difficult decision to close the school in order to perform a deep clean. We will therefore be closing the school for one day only on Monday 29th November. The school will reopen on Tuesday 30th November.

The Local Authority fully support our decision to close for the clean.

Home learning will be provided for your child on Monday (and continue to do so if they are isolating or awaiting a PCR result).  Foundation Classes will post learning on Tapestry and Year 1 and Year 2 will post via Google classroom.

I understand that this will be problematic for some families and we apologise for the inconvenience, however, safety must remain paramount.  We will take this short pause for the cleaning process and hope very much that we begin to see the number of cases subside.

I will finish with a positive….. thank you for the incredible messages of support from families, they have helped to keep spirits high.  Thank you to the incredible staff team who are working tirelessly to keep the learning going both in school and home.

Sending lots of well wishes to all our families.

Jo Conner (Headteacher)
